Polyimide Sealing Resin - 5 grams
Silica Physics offers five-gram vials of precisely the same polyimide (polyamic acid) used in manufacturing GC and CE capillary: a semiconductor grade copolymer of 3,3',4,4'-benzophenone tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride (BTDA), 4.4'-oxydianaline (ODA), and m-phenylene diamine (MPD) at roughly 20% solids in n-methyl-2-pyrollidone (NMP), wt./wt.
Most suppliers offer wire-grade polyamic acids. Wire grades utilize lower cost solvent systems that generally contain two or three organic solvents such as acetone, toluene, xylene, etc., but the single, largest differentiator between wire grade and semiconductor grade is the particulate content. Semiconductor grades are filtered to sub-micron levels where wire grades are not, so in an application where a particle as small as a micron can start a column fracture, semiconductor grades are an absolute necessity.
