IQ Laser Lithotripsy Patents
InnovaQuartz was awarded patent number 9,122,009 by the US Patent and Trademark Office on September 1st, 2015 for ProFlex LLF. On December 29th, 2015 IQ was awarded a second ProFlex LLF patent, number 9,223,089. Both patents were First Action Allowances, issuing without modification. Not bad for the first couple of patents issuing to the new IQ. (We had 15 prior to these, and retain the right to use each of them for non-medical purposes, but Boston Scientific owns them.) So Kudos to Jonathan Goodman, Ph.D. J.D., our esteemed patent attorney, at Synthesis Intellectual Property, in Evanston, Illinois. (If you need a good patent attorney, go find your...
ProFlex LLF -- Advanced Technology for Holmium Laser Lithotripsy
Flexiva Holmium Fiber Laser Lithotripsy ProFlex ProFlex LLF SureFlex
InnovaQuartz developed the first quartz ferrule reinforced surgical fiber termination 20-years ago; we called it the Black Hole™ because it could capture and absorb even highly errant laser focus energy without damaging the laser or the connector. The holmium laser fiber product line came to be known as SureFlex™ for its unprecedented high tolerance to tight bending under power. InnovaQuartz was acquired by Laserscope in 2006 and then became part of American Medical Systems a month later when Laserscope was acquired. In 2012, the scientist who had designed and perfected SureFlex and AccuFlex™ (and founder of InnovaQuartz, Stephen Griffin) had...
What's Next in Fiber Optics for Urological Surgery?
AccuFlex Duotome Flexiva GreenLight Holmium Fiber Laser Lithotripsy ProFlex ProFlex LLF SideLite Slimline SureFlex
The fact that fiber optic technology for surgical lasers has steadily improved for two decades is largely due to InnovaQuartz' (IQ) research into fiber failure modes and strategies to overcome those weaknesses. Operating primarily in the background by providing unique solutions for established surgical laser companies, IQ has pushed back boundaries for the science of laser medicine in myriad fields, but none more authoritatively than Urological Surgery. Our patented products and proprietary technologies have blazed the path for others to follow -- We introduced the BlackHole™ High Power Connector in the 1990s and enabled GreenLight™ laser power to rise almost 5-fold starting in the late 1990s subsequently...
ProFlex™ LLF -- Instructions for Use
Holmium Fiber Laser Lithotripsy ProFlex LLF ProGlide Reprocessing Instructions Reuse IFU Single Use LLF IFU
Instructions for Use ProFlex™ Laser Lithotripsy Fiber For use with Ho:YAG, Tm:YAG, Nd:YAG/KTP, Alexandrite, Argon & all 500nm to 2200nm cleared lasers equipped with SMA ports. Some models are equipped with Trimedyne connectors and may be used with Trimedyne Ho:YAG Lasers. For fibers smaller than 550, only those designated "DEKA" are compatible with DEKA Smart 2100 lasers. "NSL" models are designed particularly for New Star Lasers but may be used on other SMA port equipped lasers as well. "S-" prefix models are designed for single use, only, and may be severely damaged by reprocessing and sterilization: injury to surgical staff may result. Only "R-" prefix...
